Dr. Brown has an unique combination of experiences as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Board-Certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center, as well as a Board Certified Adult Health Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her expertise encompasses mental wellness promotion, symptom reduction / prevention as well as diagnosis and management of mental illnesses such as Major Depression, Bipolar Affective Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress, ADHD, Substance Use, Schizophrenia, Eating Disorders as well as many illnesses affecting children and adolescents.
She began her journey in health care at the age of 13 as a candy striper volunteer at Lenox Hill hospital in NY. Since that time, she has propelled herself in healthcare through her studies and her varied healthcare positions. She has accumulated nearly nineteen years of Psychiatric and Medical experience.
Dr. Brown has a unique combination of strong clinical skills and strives to provide the best health care possible. She believes in building a long lasting and trusting relationship with clients, families and students. She seeks to acquire a comprehensive evaluation of every client by taking time to listen and understand their needs. Her true desire is to enhance a positive healing experience and confidence to those in need.
In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Dr. Brown also has an outstanding academic background that includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kansas Neuman College in Wichita, Kansas, a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing Practice, a Masters in Nursing Education and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York and a Post Masters Certification in Psychiatric Mental Illness Across the Life Span. . She also holds a Doctorate degree in Health Care Education from the doctoral program at A T Still University in Kirksville, Missouri.
Dr. Brown has taught nursing education in the traditional classroom as well as the online settings. She also has held academic and executive clinical leadership roles. Dr. Brown opened the first campus, and graduated the first class of nursing students of Chamberlain College of Nursing in Georgia, where every graduate passed their licensure board exam on their first attempt. Throughout her career, Dr. Brown has been a strong advocate for those that are included within vulnerable populations.
Jess is a dedicated, organized, and methodical individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, is an excellent team worker, and is keen and very willing to learn and develop new skills. She is reliable and dependable and has a wide variety of responsibilities within our practice. She has an active and dynamic approach to work and getting things done. She is determined and decisive in identifying and developing opportunities for improved client experience and office work flow.
Jess’s work ethic certainly is the pride of our team. She has extensive experience with healthcare processes, having held a variety of positions that allows her to better understand the workflow from the time a client schedules an appointment until their insurance pays their claims.
